Not being an innately eloquent or clear writer, it's always an anxious event to put "my stuff" out into the blogsphere. Although I take long breaks to attend to my day job, I keep coming back to my blog ultimately because the feedback loop is so damn invaluable. No doubt, there is a bit of ego in it all; being pinged, commented and referenced by those I admire. What I appreciate most, is the subtle constructive feedback I receive in those responses that push me to not only keep blogging, but improve my writing and methods of conveying my thoughts in this medium. I'm additionally driven by the connections made through blogging, which can potentially bring people around an idea, no matter how raw, to hammer it out, give it some feet and possibly collaborate to bring it to fruition.
So in other words, thank you and keep the scrutinizing (in the good sense of the word) coming. Below are two sniped responses from the Web-based Resource idea post last week.
From Michael Gilbert's Nonprofit Online News
"Sonny Cloward is assembling a guide that he's calling A Web-Based Resource for the Craft Art Community. Right now, it reads like a very interesting set of notes on a range of topics that interest me that might generally fall under the rubric of low cost, network oriented knowledge management tools. I recommend it if only for the annotated links and thoughts on the application of a number of openly available tools."
From Jon Stahl's Journal
"Sonny Cloward, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in person (along with his adorable son Finn) this winter, is pondering A Web-Based Resource for the Craft Art Community. Lots of good — if raw — ideas in here about how to create a next-generation community oriented web resource for a topical/issue community.
"Lots of good thinking here; it’s not hard to see the relevance to the Northwest environmental community I work in. In fact, we’ve been having similar conversations around ONE/Northwest these days.
"Towards the end, Sonny speculates a bit about platforms to build in — my personal choice would be of course be Plone. But that’s another story."
