Biography

Over the last 8 years, Sonny Cloward has consulted with and worked for over 40 nonprofits; working with many to develop and implement strategic technology plans. Sonny's expertise in the nonprofit sector includes experience in information & communication (ICT) systems management, database administration, donor and prospect stewardship, prospect research, marketing, event management, and infrastructure & business analysis.

Originally from the culinary world as a pastry chef and restaurant manager, Sonny found himself an accidental techie when he began doing development work at a nonprofit summer camp he had previously cooked at. Sonny took his experience in building IT capacity for one nonprofit to direct a program based in Burlington, Vermont to assist other organizations to leverage technology to better serve their constituents and missions. He currently serves as the Communication and Information Director at the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF) (www.craftemergency.org), a national nonprofit that helps strengthen and sustain the careers of professional craft artists through funding and information services.

At CERF, Sonny implemented Salesforce.com as a full programmatic and development data management system. CERF uses Salesforce to not only manage constituents and donations, but also to manage a full beneficiary program, grant and loan giving, grant making, brokered in kind gifts and event management. Sonny presented this Salesforce implementation for nonprofits at the Salesforce.com 2005 Dreamforce Conference.

Sonny is a recent graduate of Antioch New England Graduate School, with a Masters in Management, with an emphasis in Nonprofits.
